Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

He started playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game.
