NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse feedback from others kill his goal of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
