NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
