Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental comments from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
