Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
