Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve final table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best bettors in the world. While competing in web poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I think television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world could be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen betting on net poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in high stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash rounds?
