Focus on Annie Duke

[ English ]

Annie Duke mightn’t have attained her 1st World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but she remains one of the most powerful poker competitors around the ring games at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s long-awaited World Series of Poker win came with a win at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.

While players from the "young crowd" of poker run wild following a big win at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mom" to her four kids. She hails from NH and grew up in a family of card players. If you do not believe that, have a look at her sibling, Howard Lederer, when he plays, who taught her how-to play poker.

However, Annie Duke is not a small change girl and has captured her cut of difficult matches, which includes eliminating Howard along the way on several occasions.

Earning over three million dollars in tournament action, Annie branched out to become a consultant to both UltimateBet and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to hone his techniques and become a force at the poker table.

You may glimpse Annie at the Bellagio, you’ll see her on TV and you might just even compete against her in an online poker match, but do not count on an easy win. Unless you are a up and coming master, you will not beat her. However, it is likely to be cool to say you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
